Welcome to the 2nd Annual California Women of Color Herbal Symposium!
The California Women of Color Herbal Symposium (CWOCHS) is a gathering for women of color to connect with plant medicine- to learn, share and heal together. The Symposium brings forth many gems including traditional plant medicine wisdom, hands-on medicine making, herb walks, and nourishing meals. This is the only gathering of its kind in the country, and it is coming at a time when our communities are deeply in need of healing and connecting with each other.
Over two and a half days we will immerse ourselves in love, beauty, self care and the power of medicinal plants surrounded by the majesty of the North Coast and the mighty Navarro River!! Come soak up the ancestral wisdom of the elders at this multi-generational gathering with women of color rooted in community. Take the time and space you need to listen to the rolling river, feel the earth beneath your feet and smell the aroma of cedars as we co-create, restore & empower our minds, bodies & spirits together in sisterhood.
This one's just for us.... and the experience is one of full openness and safety. A space where we get to learn from others that look like us, share lived experiences and, most of all, draw on ancestral wisdom from those ones who birthed us!!!
All organic, nutritious vegetarian meals will be provided for our weekend! Please bring any supplemental protein with you! :) Unless you prefer to camp, you will be housed in cozy lodges or cabins complete with bathing facilities, wood burning stoves and other shared amenities! River's Bend is a very special place and is beautifully maintained as to be a warm and welcoming site for a retreat like this one. You will be pleased :).
This year's Symposium will once again be held at the River's Bend Retreat Center on May 27-29, 2016!!. Please arrive as close to 5 PM on Friday, the 27th in order to register, settle in and grab a bite before opening circle at 7.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
Scholarship recipients will receive the full Symposium experience (eg. classes, delicious vegetarian meals, etc.) If you are still interested, here’s what we are asking that you consider before applying: • A non-refundable deposit of $200 (Please register through our Eventbrite portal and indicate that you are interested in receiving a scholarship.) • Helping to circulate our fundraising campaign • Willingness to tent camp (unless you have special circumstances that prevent this) • Willingness to be onsite support during the Symposium While we’d love everyone to be at the Symposium, there are understandably a limited number of spaces available, which is why we can only offer 10 scholarships. In order to cover overall costs, we need as many full paying participants as possible, as we are solely self-funded….for now at least :) In order to streamline communication, please send your inquiries to [email protected]. If your interest is scholarships, please put “Scholarship request” in the subject field and tell us a little about yourself along with a brief need statement and how much you are able to contribute within the body of the email. We will respond to all applicants once we’ve made our decisions. In the event that you make a deposit but do not receive a scholarship and, therefore, decide not to come, we will refund your deposit. All applications are due by Friday, April 8th by 10:00 pm PST. |
